Karbonn K9 Smart with multilingual support launched at Rs 3,990

Karbonn today announced the launch of its new budget smartphone, the Karbonn K9 Smart for Rs 3,990. The Karbonn K9 Smart comes in black and gold color variants.
The Karbonn K9 Smart has 12 Indian languages at system level, offering phone/ contacts access in 11 Indian languages, 21 languages typing options and also access to popular apps like YouTube, Whatsapp, Facebook, news websites, Google maps etc in various Indian languages.
The Karbonn K9 Smart features a 5-inch FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) Dragontrail display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor along with 512 MB of RAM. The device runs on older Android 4.2.2 KitKat operating system and is packed with 2300 mAh removable battery.
The handset comes with 8GB of internal storage, which is further expandable up-tp 32GB via microSD card. The Karbonn K9 Smart sports an 3.2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 1.3-megapixel front camera. On the connectivity front, the handset offers 3G, Dual SIM, WiFi, WiFi Hotspot, GPS and a micro USB port.
Commenting on the launch of Karbonn K9 Smart, Shashin Devsare, executive director, Karbonn Mobiles said, "With the launch of K9 Smart, we aim to dissolve the language barrier which is one of the major impediments inhibiting Smartphone adoption amongst non English speaking population. As per IAMAI, the local language user base grew 47% and touched 127 million in June. The growing consumption of local language content on mobile phones is a clear indicator of the need for vernacularising the Smartphone ecosystem for bridging the gaping digital divide. With K9 Smart launch we aim to bridge this divide by offering Indian users an affordable Smartphone device which offers access in their native language for ease of use thereby encouraging adoption."
