Apple is reportedly prepping an iPhone 7 Plus variant with dual rear cameras

“The phone will allegedly offer two 12MP camera sensors – one with OIS and the other with 2-3x telephoto lens”
Earlier this week, the rumoured 4-inch iPhone 5se was allegedly picturedalongside the iPhone 5 in a leaked image. Now new details regarding the iPhone 7 Plus have hit the interwebs. An Apple analyst from KGI, Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that the company will be launching two variants of the iPhone 7 Plus. While the first edition will sport a single iSight camera, the second will arrive with a dual rear camera setup.

In a note released to Apple investors, Kuo claims that the iPhone 7 Plus variant will utilise camera technology by LinX Imaging, an Israeli company that specialises in creating multi-aperture camera equipment for mobile devices. It’s worth mentioning that Apple acquired LinX Imaging in April 2015.
The dual-camera setup on the iPhone 7 Plus is said to include two 12MP camera sensors, one with OIS and a wider field of view, and the other with 2x or 3x zoom lens. As per the reports, the dual-camera technology may enable some special camera features like switching between sensors based on environments, better depth and colour sensing, image-stitching for high-resolution pictures, variable focus and bokeh effects.
Kuo also speculates that the iPhone 7 Plus model with the dual-rear camera setup will be in short supply early on. He believes it will account for 25 to 35 percent of total iPhone 7 Plus shipments this year. Needless to say, it will be the most expensive of all the iPhone 7 models if it launches in September this year.
